Bishop Dwight David Pate

Founder & Senior Pastor of Church Point Ministries
5686 Winbourne Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70805
(800) 266-5111

Born and raised in Tunica, Louisiana, Dwight Pate accepted the call on his life at age 13 while attending the New Zion Baptist Church. While he went astray for a season due to the influence of an older brother, since the age of 25, he has been full-time in ministry. In 1983, he founded Church Point Ministries and has served as its Senior Pastor. He was ordained a Bishop by Apostle Clifford Turner of Liberty Temple in Chicago, Illinois in 1992 and is known worldwide for prayer and distributing Holy Anointed Oil free of any costs to whomever contacts him to receive it.

The foundational scripture that Bishop Pate stands on is Proverbs 29:18, “Without a vision, the people perish”. His visionary leadership – combined with the gift of faith -has taken the church from an abandoned used car lot shack on Scenic Highway, to a small church on Oswego Street. to 3000 Tecumseh Streetwhere in addition to the local church, both the WNDC 910 AM Radio Station and the CPM Christian Academy (nursery through 12th grade) were in operation for over 16 years. In 2005, the church moved again. A major renovation project at 12061 North Harrells Ferry Road included a sanctuary, a theater, a banquet hall, a prayer call center, and a television studio. Then the flood of 2016 washed it all away. By the grace of GOD, in June 2018, the church moved to 5686 Winbourne Avenue. This5-acre campus houses a sanctuary, 16 classrooms, a baptism room and an auditorium/basketball court. The LORD has restored and brought the increase!

The vision is to use the arts and media to unite GOD’S church and to create a Christian economy. Prophetically, Bishop Pate sees spiritual giants rising up from inner city America to touch Africa and other parts of the world. He plans to anchor future generations by launching a training center to equip young evangelists to bring revival so that a moral standard is reestablished, especially here in America.

What matters most to Bishop Pate is soul winning. Whether it’s by direct mail, radio, television or social media content, Bishop lives to encourage just one more soul to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their life. What carries Bishop Pate from one season to the next is the sovereign grace of GOD and the power of prayer in his life. Highlights include opening the Congress of the United States with prayer, being called by two former Presidents for prayer as well as praying with the late, great evangelist, Brother Billy Graham. Bishop Pate also accepted the invitation to bring the gospel to the national mall in Washington, DC after the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States.

To date, he has shut up to pray three times: in 1994 for 7 1/2 months; in 2000 for 5 months and again in 2013 for 11 ½ months. It was during the first shut in that the LORD spoke to him to pray over olive oil and to distribute this Holy Anointed Oil free of charge all over the world. Church Point Ministries pays for the oil, the bottles, the caps, the labels and the postage and relies on a staff of volunteers to meet the need. To date, over 17 million bottles have been given away so that people are not so dependent on the pulpit to do the work of the LORD, but feel equipped and supported to expect supernatural miracles, signs and wonders themselves. It is time for the pulpit to decrease and the HOLY SPIRIT in the people to increase. The oil works by the sovereign grace of GOD.

Also, Bishop Patehosts a weekly prayer call where intercessors and prayer warriors unite to pray for the needs of the people that call in by phone not just for prayer, but to testify about the supernatural miracles, signs and wonders they experience by using the oil. In October 2019, the Daystar Television Network included Bishop Pate and his wife, Sandra, in their Heart for the World telecast where for three hours, testimonies of the miracles they have both seen and heard went around the world.

Not only is Bishop Pate a prayer warrior, he is a sacrificial seed sower who loves helping GOD’S people and has planted churches and supported mission work in the Caribbean and Africa, in addition to raising funds for Christian television including PTL, Cornerstone, Daystar, CTN and Super Channel 55 in Florida. Furthermore, as an evangelist he is known for holding long revivals in Baton Rouge, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Atlanta to renew minds in the inner city; and he has served as a civil rights fighter in the local community to secure jobs, and to put an unprecedented number of Black judges on the bench in the state of Louisiana.

Creatively, he is an accomplished poet who has written two books of poetry – “The Stallion” & “Who Do I Turn to When I am all Alone”. He has authored three books — “Breakthroughs from Another World”, “The Challenge” and “I Think I Thought I Knew/No Place for an Original Idea” and written a chapter in “Man Power/ The Call to African American Men for Spiritual Revival” – as well as executive producing several albums and recording well over five thousand sermons.

He is married to the love of his life, Sandra, blessed to father Rorick, Faith and Melissa, and honored to be the grandfather to Kayden, Marissa & Madison.
